The Challenge
Yahel Israel runs service-learning programs across underserved Israeli communities, partnering with grassroots organizations and local leaders to support work that’s already happening on the ground.
For years, Yahel's facilitators had led reflection on service and social responsibility with activities pulled together for each volunteer day or learning day. It worked, but it lived in many pieces, and every session depended on who was running it. Yahel wanted to be able to send anyone in their network onto a program and know they could leave behind the same grounded experience, wherever they were working - no matter the group or environment.
The work
I worked with the Yahel team and Jay Rosen to translate years of facilitation experience into a system anyone in their network could pick up. The curriculum is built around five thematic modules, each differentiated by color, illustration style, and pacing. Altogether, it includes more than 80 cards and a facilitator instruction booklet, kept in a branded card box.

Each card has an illustration on the front and a facilitation prompt on the back. The color tells a facilitator which module they're in, and a set of icons shows the duration of each activity and the tools it needs.
The outcome
The curriculum is now used across Yahel’s programs and partner organizations. It serves volunteers, facilitators, and community partners across Israel as the foundation of how they reflect on service, social responsibility, and the role each of us plays in our communities.
